Connecting Your Google Business Profile
How to connect
- Click Add Business from your dashboard.
- Sign in with Google when prompted. We use OAuth 2.0 — we never see your Google password.
- Select the Google Business Profile you want to manage.
- Configure your tone, selling points, and auto-post preferences.
What permissions we need
We request access to your Google Business Profile to read reviews and post responses on your behalf. We do not access your email, contacts, or any other Google data.
Token security
Your Google OAuth tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. The encryption key is stored separately from the database. Even in the unlikely event of a database breach, your tokens would be unreadable.
Troubleshooting
403 Forbidden errors
If you see a 403 error when connecting, your Google Business Profile API access may not be enabled. ReviewAI automatically falls back to the Google Places API (read-only) in this case. You can still see reviews but responses must be posted manually until API access is restored.
Token expired
Google tokens expire periodically. ReviewAI automatically refreshes them. If a refresh fails, you'll see an alert on your dashboard asking you to reconnect — just click the reconnect button and sign in again.
Wrong account
If you connected the wrong Google account, disconnect the business from your dashboard and reconnect with the correct account. Make sure you're signed into the right Google account in your browser before clicking Connect.
